How our DDoS protection works and keeps you safe.

Always on, at no extra cost

All servers at DeinServerHost are protected by DDoS protection by default. You don't need to set up or purchase anything – the protection kicks in automatically.

How it works

Our DDoS protection is based on the filtering technology of our partner PletX. At its core is a self-developed software built on XDP/eBPF that traces every connection from start to finish – enabling especially accurate mitigation.

Filtering happens in multiple stages:

  1. Routers first filter out the "rough", obviously malicious traffic
  2. The traffic then passes through the specialised filtering software (XDP/eBPF)
  3. Several redundant filter systems increase effectiveness and prevent overload

Legitimate traffic continues to reach your server throughout.

Info
During very large attacks there may be brief increases in latency while the filters take effect. Your service stays reachable as much as possible.

Features at a glance

Especially for game servers

A reverse proxy specifically assists with connections such as Steam, FiveM and Minecraft queries – ideal for game servers that rely on clean status queries.

Many applications and games also need suitable filters to run reliably and securely. These check the content and size of data packets; some use additional methods such as SYN authentication to make sure a connection is genuine.

Tip
For a game server facing attacks from within the game, a support ticket is worthwhile – we'll set up the right game-specific filters for you.

What you can do yourself

  • Keep services and software up to date
  • Close unused ports (firewall)
  • Open a support ticket if anomalies persist
